NatureWay 2020 ENDED

THANK YOU!!

NatureWay 2020 has officially ended! Despite the difficult circumstances posed by COVID-19, SEEC was able to host the camp in a 100% virtual format, teaching fun and interactive lessons. We have received many positive comments from the parents, some of which are included below. Special thanks to Director of Natureway Nitu Renganathan, as well as Director of Mentorship Aditi Wamorkar, ECHHS Branch President Annie Qin, all the counselors, and the parents for allowing their children to attend this program. It has been a joy working with the young and brilliant minds for the past three weeks. THANK YOU TO EVERYONE THAT MADE THIS POSSIBLE! We will be providing more information soon about virtual environmental education opportunities this fall!

PARENT FEEDBACKS

“We were so happy with the program. Camp teachers were engaging, friendly, and knowledgeable about their subjects. Perfect mix of education and fun. Best camp we have attended this summer. Thank you for your hard work!”

“My daughters, [Camper names], are absolutely loving all the classes. Thank you so much to the staff for planning such a great range of activities and topics, for their endless patience when dealing with groups of little ones on zoom, and for getting my two really excited about these sometimes new topics in an age appropriate and engaging way!”

“[Camper name] had a WONDERFUL time at Nature Way Camp, and was still sad about it being over this weekend. He's talked about it many times—how great the kids and counselors were, and how fun it was. Thank you for the informative lessons, and for your patience with [the students]. [Camper name] specifically asked me to make sure to write to you and let you know how much he loved the camp.”

FAQs

Are the weeks independent?

No, all 3 weeks will have a different set of topics covered! But that doesn't mean all 3 weeks are required - you are free to pick and chose what days you would like your child to attend!

How will the activities take place?

We plan on incorporating both online and hands-on activities into our lessons. One week before the session starts, we will send a list of materials required for each lesson so that your child may follow along for the hands-on portion!

How will the camp work?

The camp will be held from 2-5 on weekdays on the weeks of July 19th, July 26th, and August 2nd. Once you register using the link tinyurl.com/natureway2020 , you will be sent one zoom link invitation that will be used for all of the meeting times, as well as an email with the materials needed for each lesson. These meetings will be recorded and later posted (most likely as an unlisted video on youtube) for future reference.

Online NatureWay 2020

Due to COVID-19, NatureWay 2020 is going virtual this year! The camp will be held through Zoom!

Dates: July 20-August 7, 2020 (Mon-Fri)

Time: 2-5 pm

Parents, please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM!

This summer, NatureWay will be held online and last for a continuous 3-weeks (instead of the usual 1-week session). NatureWay is a free day camp for elementary school children (ages 6-10) co-led by the Student Environmental Education Coalition, a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. NatureWay aims to stimulate interest in STEM fields through unique and engaging lessons and activities designed around promoting the conservation of the natural environment. We integrate lessons with safe hands-on activities, like learning how to identify flora by exploring nearby nature trails or learning about aquatic organisms by bringing in live sea stars. We also invite accomplished guest speakers who work in scientific or environmental fields and help campers pursue their own individual projects, such as testing a creek's water quality, writing a letter to the governor, analyzing soil samples, and more. If you have any questions, please contact us for more information!

Who We Are

NatureWay Counselors

In terms of administration, all of the counselors are top local high school students NCSSM). We've chosen outgoing counselors that are qualified to teach topics including Earth science, aquatic ecology, environmental engineering, and more. Many past campers are returning partly because they enjoyed spending time with older students who served as role models, particularly for girls and minorities interested in STEM. Furthermore, NatureWay maintains a low counselor-to-camper ratio in order to ensure proper supervision at all times.
